We do not recommend buying cheap SD cards as we have found off brand cards don’t tend to last very long. We have had good success with Kingston and our original cards from 3 years ago are still fully working, some off brand cards have not lasted longer than a few weeks on occasion. We have removed as many write operations as we can from our Raspberry Pi image which is based on Raspbian.
